Saint Petersburg - so-called "Venice of the North", is the city which used to be the capital of Russia for two centuries. It is the city of bascule bridges, white nights, luxurious Imperial palaces, marvelous monuments, historical statues. Impressive parks open their gates to travelers who are captured by the rich architecture of the 18th century, who are interested in the lifestyle and residence of the famous royal House of Romanovs.

Program
Day 1
There is Nothing More Attractive Than the Nevsky Avenue...

10:00 - 11:00 getting acquianted with the guide in the hotel lobby.

A bus-riding and a walking excursion named "There is nothing more attractive than the Nevsky avenue...".

Nevsky avenue - is the centralization of the city life. You will find here renowned buildings, castles and cathedrals, cafes and restaurants, banks and shops.

We shall learn from the excursion what the Stroganov Palace is famous for, who visited the famous Wolf and Beranger confectionery, we shall learn about

the sunny side of the Nevsky avenue, will see where the first trams ran by and many more things. Excursions to the church of the Savior on Spilled Blood,

the Cathedral of the Resurrection, the museum of Russian Mosaic art of the late XIX-th and the beginning of the XX-th century.

End of the excursion in the downtown.

City-walking excursion named "Palace Stories".

The royal family was not large in the XVIII century, but in the XIX century, it grew so big that more than a hundred people were counted in the palace and all

of them were the offsprings of the emperor Pavel I and his wife Maria Feodorovna. The members of the imperial family led different lifestyles. Some plotted, some others

planned intrigues, the others established an educational center and sponsored the development of arts.

But everybody had one thing in common, all of them without any exception built marvelous palaces for themselves.

Alternative excursion: There are splendid palaces in Saint Petersburg which never belonged to Pavel I's family.

By visiting one of them you will get acquainted with luxurious interior, collection of pictures and will hear many stories about the family of Romanov.

Monetary Yard, Commandant's House, Boat House.

Excursions to the Peter and Paul Fortress - monument to the architecture of Peter's baroque, tombs of Russian emperors and empresses.

The bell tower of the cathedral, as a symbol of the rapid rise of Russia which is considered to be the highest architectural building of the city.

Excursion to the Catherine Castle.

An excursion to the countryside named "Royal village - the city of the muse" which was the marvelous residence of Russian emperors and empress as well

as the source of inspiration for Russian poets. Visit to the Catherine Palace which is a Russian and a European architectural masterpiece.

The rooms have preserved the interior of the 18-19 centuries astonishing the visitors with their luxuriance, wealth and elegance.

The famous Amber Room is often enlisted among the wonders of the world. Tour around the Catherine castle.

Return to Saint Petersburg. Walking tour along the historical center of Saint Petersburg, visit to the Holy Temple of Kazan which is the Mօther See Cathedral of Petersburg.

Day 7
The Pages of the Story of the Romanov Family.

A bus excursion named "The Pages of the Romanov Family Story" which will tell you about the years of rule of Russian emperors and empress, their impact

on the social life and the construction of Saint Petersburg. We shall see statues of Monarchs, imperial castles, magnificent palaces, buildings and cathedrals

the names of which are connected with the names of famous Russian rulers.

Excursion to the Winter Palace- State Ermitage - the Russian Emperors' Residence, the treasury of world art.

It is one of the biggest galleries in the world, which holds in its collection about 3 million monuments presenting the art of various epochs and nations.

The end of the excursion is at the Moscow or Ladoga station (approx. at 14:00).
