Mediterranean Fairy Tale

Barcelona after Madrid is the second largest city in Spain with a population of 3,200,000 people. The city is quite innovative, it is a center of diversity having a rich cultural heritage and impressive architecture. The main architects of the city - Antoni Gaudi and Lluis Domenech I Montaner made this European city world- renowned by their modernistic approaches. Gaudi's Magnum Opus is considered to be the famous Sagrada Familia as well as Park Guell, La Pedrera and Casa Batllo.

Costa Brava is a coastline of sunny blue-flagged beaches in Spain. It displays three amazing National Parks that have huge biological importance for the area. This sea fronted town preserves the wonderful legacy of Salvador Dalí in Empordà; the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes or the castle of Peratallada; mediaeval towns such as Tossa de Mar, Púbol or Pals; the ruins of Empúries, a major archaeological site providing a fascinating insight into how the ancient Greeks and Romans lived; the traditional ceramics of La Bisbal; and Girona's old quarter, featuring a superb historical gem, the so- called Jewish quarter.

The Theatre-Museum of Salvador Dali in Figueres is one of the most famous museums which is fully devoted to the life and works of the renowned artist Salvador Dali. The museum is considered to be the last masterpiece of Dali: everuthing inside is planned and projected by the painter himself. The museum is the second most popular museum in Spain among tourists, leaving the first place only to the Prado Museum in Madrid. Officialy the museum opened its doors on 28 October, in 1974.

Like many settlements on the Mediterranean coast of France, Nice was founded by the Greeks in the 5th century BC. under the name of Nicaea. Over the course of its long history it has repeatedly changed its rulers, has survived many sieges and destructions․ The heart of the city is the central embankments of Promenade des Anges which is a 5-kilometer long luxurious boulevard, a perfect place to walk along and have a rest. The Promenade is built up with electrical buildings of the XIX-XX centuries among which the Palace De- La Mediterranean (currently a luxurious casino), the excentric Negresco Hotel (1906) with its famous salon of Louis XIV ( XVII century) and the Royal Salon stand out. In the hall of the latter one there is a chandelier given as a present to the hotel by Nicolay II is still hanging. The complete copy of the chandelier is hanging in the Kremlin, too.

Monaco is a constitutional monarchy, a principality under the protectorate of France. It is a tiny republic with a population of 38000 people inhabited on a territory of 2,02 square km. The republic has also won 40 hectares territory at the expense of the sea. Monaco means sun-soaked beaches of Azure coasts of France ornamented with colorful carpets flowerbeds, amazing panoramas with cactus, palms, with unapproachable cliffs with neat houses leaning against them.Monaco is the international capital of luxury, impressive views, gold, and diamonds, fashionable apartments, cars and yachts. However, Monaco also means its population - the Monégasques who have already put up with the status of their country and remain quite indifferent towards the presence of Hollywood stars, sports celebrities, Arab sheiks along their streets and in their casinos.

The Italian resort city of San Remo is located in the region of Liguria, on the east coast of the Ligurian sea. San Remo was founded by ancient Romans near a modern city in the village of Matute. They built a small fortress to fight back the Saracens. Throughout time San Remo, which was named in honor of the Saint hermit Romula, became a part of the Genoese republic and lost its independence. In the last hundred years, San Remo was considered to be the most favorite resort destination, especially for the Russian noblemen. Till now many things here remind of the Dynasty of the Romanovs.

Worldwide famous resort city Cannes is located in the Eastern part of the Franch Riviera. This is a city of all kinds of festivities, architectural monuments, perfect coastal hotels, wonderful sandy beaches, churches, chapels, and ancient houses. The main street of the city is the embankments of La Croisette.
